Before you start testing, go to the project manager and say:

    "Is this the correct version?"

    and

    "Has it been uploaded?"

Sorry, I guess I don't understand your question.

    Re: Web Testing

    hi

If I understand you correctly then you want to know how to carry out config management on the site on a contiual basis to ensure that changes made to the code get reflected on the web site.

assuming that you are carrying out regression testing as a good practice, there are two ways of ensuring the desired end result:

    1) manual process where you define the directory structure in such a way that till all files get approved they lie in the testing folder (extending this to a mean they lie in the testing server before moving to the staging server for uploading)
    2) automated process through tools that keep track of the version changes in the code. Here it depends on the platform in which you are creating the website and/or your budget.

trust the above answers your question

Two processes to be controlled and monitored
1.Configuration and change management and 2.installation

Each release to tester is made by labelling the Version control system and bundling up it into the installable. This is normally taken care of by build and release engineer. These installables are first handed over to tester so they install it on test serves and perform all kinds of testing. When the testers give a go to this tested release, the same release (in form of installables) is handed over to the IT department to deploy it to the live site.
I believe a smal sanity test of live site post-deployment is necessary.
