Java GUI performance proofiling
I need to find some approach to evaluate the performance of a Java GUI application. I believe what I want is a means of collecting the response times for certain operations in the GUI in order to provide an objective view on how performant the GUI is.
My direct question is if a tool like WinRunner (By Mercury) is an appropriate tool for doing that. Does it give you measures of response time at all? Can it produce the numbers without interfering to much with the performance of the application? Does it use a lot of memory on the machine where I run the application to be tested? How difficult is it to set up the test scripts?
Are there any other suggestions a suitable approach or tools to be used?
Re: Java GUI performance proofiling
I'd try a profiling tool such as the JProbe profiler. It does exactly what you are looking for and I believe an eval copy is available.
