Does anyone have any experience performance testing for Flash/AMF? What performance tools support this and how do they really work?
Borland/Segue say they support AMF. Does anyone have real world experience with it?
Yes. I believe it is a protocol that transmits serialized data between Flash components. The message body is usually XML in its unaltered state. Using straight HTTP playback tools, you should be able to see the message payload, but depending upon the application's implementation, this content may or may not be workable because it will contain binary data. I have had success using this method. However, this may not always be the case. I know LoadRunner has support for this and I have had success using their AMF protocol as well, which is quite simple, since it shields you from the HTTP implementation of the message. There is some good documentation on AMF. Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Action_Message_Format.
