Astra load test
Astra load test(eval copy) seems to have caused my browsers to stop working under certain conditions(which I don't know). It has locked up Netscape 4.7 and IE 5.5. I have freed up IE by reinstalling. Does anyone know of a better solution ?
Re: Astra load test
Well, first thing is that if you are not sure under which conditions the browser fails, how sure are you that it is the Astra LoadTest tools? I have used Astra LoadTest as well as the full LoadRunner and have not had any problems - certainly not across both browsers.
Secondly, what is the nature of how the browsers stop working. Do they both not load up at all or do they both have problems loading pages, etc.?
If it worked to re-install IE, check your Netscape again - possibly even re-installing it. If that does work (meaning Netscape starts working again), you should probably try to install Astra again and see if the same problem occurs. If it does, you have a strong case that Astra LoadTest is causing the problem.
As far as the better solution, it depends on what you are referring to. Astra LoadTest is a lesser version of Mercury's LoadRunner. There are many other solutions but as far as whether you need that, it needs to be determined what is causing the browser failures. As I said, unless anyone else chimes in, I have had no problems getting Astra (or other Mercury tools) to work with my browsers. On the other hand, I have seen some setups in which a DLL or OCX gets replaced that adversely affects the entire setup.
