If I purchase 1000 vuser licenses from mercury for an application that might need about 5000 vusers for its load to break. i.e. spike testing. Is there an alternative way to do spike testing without purchasing more vusers?
Please understand there is no need for providing my load runner details for this general question.
Simply deploy the application on less powerful hardware if your goal is to break, not the number of users...
I mean if you only want to see what the software will do when if will run out of hardware resources: to increase response times until some timeout is reached... you will see everything of that.
However you can't be 100% sure the same will happen in the real environment, but it is better than nothing.
