We have used LoadRunner to successfully test online games using the WinSock virtual user. Likely our experience in the sockets universe with LoadRunner is directly transferable to other commercial tools which support a sockets virtual user.

It might or might not be your only choice!

[/ QUOTE ]This is work typically required of you. SQAF members as volunteers do not typically do tool-evaluations or Proofs-of-Concept for others. If you are wishing to contract someone to do that for $$, then that is a different story!

Feel free to contact any of the major tool vendors who advertise at this site. They are listed to your left in the navbar.

Performance Testing requires resourcefulness. Your journey has begun! Good luck!

Perhaps you have some other performance testing related questions that are not tool-specific; where you could begin a dialog that would help you in that regard?? There are many here that could help move the dialog along.

What is your level of risk? What is the financial impact of an inability to scale or a completely meltdown? Are their many providers in your gaming space, such that if you fail to scale it will impact your revenue stream?

Now take the financial risk and measure it against the one time, one project cost of any commercial tool and you will likely still come out that any of the available and capable commercial tools are reasonable in cost measured against the beneficial reduction in risk.

Keep in mind that you are going to be able to use your commercial tool (ideally) against a number of projects.

Sir,
A few questions to ask from this:

1) How do you make the test case for testing online games. What concept we follow?
2) How can we test if the response from server is correct at high load because we just have some recorded response only
3) Could you please put here the process you followed for the testing of online games?

Expecting a reply from you.
Thanking you

What kind of results is your client expecting?

Perhaps you can start there to find out which use cases are relevant.

Re: Load Test Tool for game online system?

Performance testing of gams are different from the normal web testing in many ways i suppose. If you can help me please do it. The specific questions are:
1) How do you check if all the automated clients get the correct response. From my testing experience in web sites, we check if the pages are being retuned completely or not returned etc or some time out occurs by doing some checks. How do you check it in the case of games. There should be some automated way checking it right. What is the logic for it? How do you do it?

2) Do you have to ensure that the ation performed by the clients should make a logic or common sense in the server side? Suppose client A does Action1 and client 2 does Action2. Do you verify that these actions should be according to game rules? ANd how do you make sure that when u automate for multi users , still the game rule will be satisfied? How is it done?

3) At what stage of development the performance testing done? In any alpha or Beta release only?

I think u get the point now.

Thanks
Soorej
