Tool/ Approach for Testing Epicor ERP Thick Client
Just wondering whether anyone has experience of load testing the Epicor ERP package. Due to the functional requirements for the solution we're having to use the Windows thick client/ server configuration of the package rather than a browser implementation, so cannot test using HTTP. Epicor is built on the .NET framework.
My preference because of familiarity is to use LoadRunner, whose Protocol Advisor identifies .NET and COM/DCOM. I'm fairly confident this would be achievable, but I don't like the level of complexity involved - we don't have access to the information we'd need to identify all the method calls made by the client app.
Another option might be to use Windows Sockets in LoadRunner, and yet another might be to drive the UI rather than trying to make calls direct to the server side (user concurrency is fairly low, so we could probably create scalable UI-driven tests).
Has anyone else tested Epicor or something like it, and can offer any tool or approach recommendations based on experience (good or bad)?
Citrix or RDP. For .Net (or DCOM) you would need someone intimately familiar with the source to set the filtering appropriate for which calls should remain in your code.
