How to do a Load test a HTTPS web service
Hi all this is my 1st tread.
On our project im assing to do a Load test on a HTTPS web service.
I tried with Jmeter and there are some issues with sending the request.(I think that is because of this is a HTTPS web service).
So is there any way to do a Load test to this kind of secured web services. (looking for free or open source tool or any other way).
JMETER can test HTTP/s just fine. It can test web services just fine. It can test web services over HTTP/s just fine.
Take a protocol analyzer. Turn off secure sockets and use the app which works then use your JMETER script. Compare the two streams at the flow level and you will see what the difference is and what you need to address. You can also take a look at the logs on your app server.
Most load testing tools will allow you to test https. Generally this involves installing a SSL certificate generated by the tool as a Trusted certificate and setting the browser to use the load testing agent as a proxy, to allow the tool to perform a man-in-the-middle attack on yourself and record the traffic . Some tools will automatically do this on install (ones with prepackaged installers), other may require you to do this as a separate step where you download the cert from their website or installation folder, and manually add it to your system.
