    Load Testing Tabular Data Stream

    Hi,

There is a requirement of load testing a client server application, which communicates using Tabular Data stream over TCP/IP.

Could you please suggest me any tool(open source preferred) other than LoadRunner that can be used to carry out the activity.

    Thanks,
    Swapnil

TDS over TCPIP is a characteristic of either Sybase or Microsoft Databate servers. Which one do you have as your target?

Re: Load Testing Tabular Data Stream

I think then you have answered your own question as to how to produce load. Either use the exposed interfaces for Microsoft SQL Server, use one of the template models (VBScript, VB, C, C#) or the DLL model noted in the Advanced Topics of the LoadRunner Virtual User Generator users guide to leverage your own source code in VB or C/C++ along with libraries from LoadRunner to produce your own load.

Your challenge on the open source front is that the vast majority of the solutions are pretty web focused and database ignorant. The few exceptions have a programmatic basis to them, such as JMETER, where you would use JDBC to send your queries. I wouldn't be surprised if CoreyG's Pylot solution offered a similar level of programmatic flexibility through Python.
