Newbie to SQA, need some opinions on my projects
Hey all this is my first post on this forum.
I was hired at a very small company (had just graduated with an undergrad IT degree) about a year ago to do manual (black-box) testing on mobile handsets for a photo sharing app, with no prior experience.
Within the year the company has seen significant growth and I had moved on to also cover support for those apps, as well as all new products, while still just manually testing the apps.
From the apps I moved on to being the only manual tester for their new web app (which I am currently working on). Due to basically lack of other really competent manual testers, I have been put on a new project for our new music streaming app. We want to learn and really start doing some load and stress testing.
Ok, so due to the super crunch of our release schedule we lack true whitebox QA methods and experience. I am trying to get my hands dirty with learning some white box testing techniques to try and start to become a true QA professional (I know this is alot but I'd like some feedback on my situation, as I know it is not ideal and I'm sure there may be alot of people on here bashing management and what not but it's the situation I currently find myself in) Thing is I don't have any other QA job exp. to compare this stuff to. To be honest I really don't have experience scripting and also wanted to see if to become a true QA professional you will absolutely need to learn how to script for certain perf testing tools?
I appreciate everyone's patience in reading this post (I know it's alot) I appreciate your expertise. THANK YOU.

This was the only question I could find in your post:

My answer is No.
Many true QA professionals never do any performance testing at all, and thus wouldn't know how to script for certain perf testing tools.
If you want to be capable of doing performance testing however, you need to know at least one performance testing tool reasonably well. Usually that means scripting, in additional to lots of other knowledge you can read about in this forum.
