Re: Need Performance automation tool for delphi.

OK, so let's decompose this architecturally. You have a programming language, Delphi (essentially TurboPascal with a twist) and you have incorporate the Google Web Toolkit with your application. You are looking for a way to produce load.

OK, here are several apporaches, beginning with the absolute top of the stack

    1. Graphical Virtual User walking through the app. You need a GUI VU which supports the recognition of deklphi objects and such, an operating system for each user, but do-able

    2. Citrix or Remote Desktop Protocol Virtual User. Once again you are driving the front end, but in a more analog style, no rich object support, such as "button press ("OK")" or anything of the like. You can fit more than one per host, but you will ultimately be limited by the power of your virtual user host for number or VUs per host.

    3. You mention Google Web Toolkit. Architecturally this should speak across well known ports for the web and reside inside of an HTTP frame inside of a carrier protocol, such as [ip][tcp][http]My google web toolkit stuff[/http][/tcp][/ip]. This would imply that any performance testing tool that supports a web interface can support your production of load. This would be independent of whether your application was constructed with Delphi, Clarion, COBOL, or James'ApplicationStructuredCoonstructionLanguage(J ASCL). The only real trick is to get an app which supports either recording directly from an executable versus a browser or one which ha a proxy recording method that you can set your application to proxy through for recording purposes.

I will leave it up to you based upon the above to research and figure out which ones contain open source variants and which ones contain only commercial variants for tools. Given your questions you really need to cultivate an architectural view of your applications. Such a view would have assisted you in arriving at an answer on which interface to test as well as whether Delphi should be the absolute determinant in your search.
