I'm doing performance testing on a dot net windows forms application with SQL 2005 as the database.
On doing the testing on the testing environment I get good timings for the transactions I am measuring.
However when it is deployed into production, it runs good for a while, a couple of weeks and then there is intermittant slowness. The same functionality on a certain machine will run fine while on another agent machine will take ages to complete.
This leads me to beleive that there is an environmental issue in production.
Could anyone advise from prior experirnce as to what could possible be the issue . Also any useful links on what counters to monitor in this case would be great.
Re: Environmental issue
The only reason I can think of for the server to show intermittent slowness when your server runs fine for weeks, is Memory leak. I hope you have been monitoring the Available memory counter in your perfmon.
I dont think there is an environmental issue since things run fine in testing. Let me know how the memory and the response times are behaving.
