Are you really not sure what some of these things could be? Also have you used the search facilities on this forum?
1) FIrstly if you are going to deploy a web based application and it is isn't performance tested what do 'you' think could go unspotted?
2) What impact do 'you' think that would have on the company you work for?
3) Would the customers or the internal staff be happy if these (answers to questions 1) and 2) were realised.
I'm just trying to help you in the thinking process
“2) What impact do 'you' think that would have on the company you work for?”
I have asked out of my own interest and not that we are implementing in my company. It’s not an official task but pure individual interest to know about performance testing so absolutely there is no ‘impact’ that would have on the company I work for.
For your Qu 3, this is an irrelevant question to the question I posted. As said earlier, am not trying to copy paste some things from this forum and implement in my company.
Please do not mistake me or misunderstand me. I’m correcting your comments.
The question I posted was – what could be possible impact on any web enterprise application if performance testing was not done.
I had to make sure as some people don't use their own minds, a bit lazy and just ask questions that have been answered already therefore regulating actual 'real' questions to the bottom of the pile.
Your question is very high level and of course the big performance issues would all revolve around whether it was 'slow', 'falls over', 'hangs' and similar because sufficient performance testing was not carried out.
The project Manager would normally balance the cost and time of conducting the performance testing vs the impact (e.g. lost revenue, customer complaints, first to market lost, etc). If the total score of the factors used to rate risk are greater in impact than it is on testing then they would usually do performance testing.
Are you looking for specific answers like you may not spot the lag in the application server to webserver layer, etc?
Just one question though did you do a search on this got to test ....
