Sybase LoadTesting Using Log Files
Does anyone know of a tool that can be used to do performance testing using a Sybase Auditing log file or a Sybase SQL file with inserts, delete update and select statements?
The goal is to replicate activity on a test system
which has the same database as a production system.
We plan to backup the database, capture the activity in a log file, refresh the database with the backup database and try to rerun the activity captured.
Does anyone know of a tool that can be used to perform this type of activity?
Re: Sybase LoadTesting Using Log Files
John, are you looking for freeware or do you have budget for a tool like LoadRunner? LoadRunner does support protocol for Sybase. The tricky part is playing back the log files in the rather cryptic API calls. It can be done but I would guess that the engineering time is greater than the next option.
One option to explore other than the latter protocol choice is VBScript protocol in LoadRunner. IF Sybase supports ADODB /ODBC connections, one could use the SQL statements as dynamic parameters. You might have to do a bit of exploring and watch this thread for updates from others using other tools of the LoadRunner caliber.
How many concurrently executing users would you want?
