performance simulation of desktop app
I am looking for way to test the performance of a sql server by emulating a client application. Basically I have a app that does a submit and it goes to my database here. I want to make sure that my database can handle the transactions, but want to emulate that client.
We currently do it with a custom tool, but it more trouble than it is worth. Looking for a COTS solution.
Re: performance simulation of desktop app
With that requirement you are most likely have to look at the offerings from the big tool vendors. (Mercury, IBM/Rational, Segue, CompuWare) This is due to the protocol simulation capability.
But if your application only does one simple submit, I would not even consider a COTS app. I seems that me that a few home-brewn scripts would do just fine.
Check here for a large list of load test tools. Sadly there are only a few tools available for database testing.
