I'm trying to load test a server as part of my dessertation,
I've set up an intranet comprising of 4 PCs connected to a DELL 5424 switch;3 clients (ubuntu) are connected to ubuntu server on which I've installed apache2,sql n php(LAMP)& couple of third party ecomm softwares like osCommerce.
I intend to stress test this web server using open source tools.I tried out pylot ..I could run it,but I'm a bit confused here...This is what i expected prior to running the tool
-the gui would show appropriate msgs(200,404 ..)when tryn to connect
-The web server would drop in performance and my system would slow down as I increase the load
However, when I increase the no, of agents and requests, pylot runs fine for a few instances and then gives exception errors....so how do i use the tool to slow down the server performance?I remember using funkload and got the same results...
mayb I'm asking something very stupid here, but being a newbie, plz bear with me....thanks in advance
Re: Load testing(pylot)
what exceptions are thrown?
can you paste the stack trace in here?
status codes displayed on the GUI when there is an HTTP error.. also you will see number of requests, response time, bytes received.
status codes for all requests and performance details can be found in the .psv file in the results directory.
