    Re: how to write test cases?

    Hi Prasanth,
    Inorder to write the test cases you must know the functionality. For file open operation u must know how to open the file and what happens after opening the file.
    To write the test cases u must be given a template with some fields like test case id,description,expectedvalues,actual values, Result,Priority and seveority.... So i think now u can understood how to write the test case.

    Re: how to write test cases?

    The Functionality & User Requirments is very
    very essential as far as writing test cases are
    concerned.

    Moreover the Test Case should contain
    particulars like Test Case Identifier,Test Case name,Objective,Test conditions/Setup,Input data
    requirments,steps and expected results.

    Note:
    -----
    The Process of developing test cases can help find problems in the requirements(or)design
    of an application,since it requires completely thinking through the operation of the application.
    For this reason,its useful to prepare test cases
    early in the development cycle if possible.

    If you have further queries ask me.

    Re: how to write test cases?

    Hi All!!!

    What is Jtest and Junit?

    Per my knowledge they are the tools used to perform unit testing for a java based application.

    Please let me know what they are used for with some examples if possible!!

    Thanks,
    Rajani.

    Re: how to write test cases?

    Hi ganesh
    JUnit is a simple Java testing framework to write tests for you Java application. This tutorial gives you an overview of the features of JUnit and shows a little example.
    1.

    Create a subclass of TestCase:

    public class BookTest extends TestCase{
    //..
    }

    2.

    Write a test method to assert expected results on the object under test:

    Note: The naming convention for a test method is testXXX()

    public void testCollection() {
    Collection collection = new ArrayList();
    assertTrue(collection.isEmpty());
    }

    3.

    Write a suite() method that uses reflection to dynamically create a test suite containing all the testXXX() methods:

    public static Test suite(){
    return new TestSuite(BookTest.class);
    }
