To tell you the truth, I've been expecting that for a year now...
I worked for JavaSoft (Sun) and I could tell that Sun is not interested in developing Test Tools, this was just an internal tool which they decided to market.
The problem with Sun is Marketing, they would have only 1 marketing person for a suite of products (not uncommon). Therefore sales would be not there, and any product that does not sell will end up where JavaStar will.
My advice is switch to SilkTest or WinRunner quick. SilkTest is Windows based and has a UNIX bean to run there (no UNIX browser support though) and WinRunner is Windows only.
Sucks, but that is the nature of the game.
My prediction for 2K is VT will have the same fate. Rational will stop supporting it sooner or later and they will push TeamTest.
Some complementary information for AJ (who seems to lack knowledge about Mercury products).
XRunner (the X-window cousin of WinRunner) indeed supports Java on UNIX platforms (both standalone Java applications and Java applets inside Netscape browser) !!
Of course, scripts of WinRunner/XRunner are compatible...
I know that, but there's no way that you can run XRunner scripts from a Windows station. You can with SilkTest. With Mercury, you need to purchase both WinRunner and XRunner to do this, with Segue only 1 version / product will do.
Please stop this behavior. I am not a SilkTest only advocate. I also love WinRunner and Mercury products, I use both. You on the other hand are a Mercury ONLY person from what I can tell. You also don't know anything about other products from what I can see.
Please stop this behavior. I've gotten a lot of complaints from many others about your previous posts. I guess you don't want to register your email address so you can continue being that way. That is so unprofessional.
