workspaces on shared directory?
Im evaluating eTester right now and am trying to figure out how to throw scripts on a shared network drive. When I try to save scripts it says I must save within the current workspace (which resides only on my C: drive with the eTester app). I know this is possible, I just need some direction on how to set it up correctly.
Thanks a lot.
Re: workspaces on shared directory?
Using shared directories on a network drive is a topic under 'Tips/Techniques' section of readme.htm located in the eTest install directory.
Shared directories provide the capability to place workspaces and other components of the repository on a network location that lets multiple installations of e-Tester access the Visual Scripts, DataBank files, e-Reporter database, and other files.
The following sections explain how to specify the shared directory location and structure.
Shared Directory Location:
To specify the shared directory location, edit the RSW.INI file and add:
to the [Install] section. The RSW.INI file is located in either the WINNT directory (on NT/Win2000 machines) or the WINDOWS directory (on Win98 machines).
Note that all machines using the shared directories should map to the same drive letter. You do not specify the mapped drive path in the SharedDir setting. For example, if you map the H: drive to:
and store the files in:
the RSW.INI SharedDir setting would be as follows:
The SharedDir setting cannot point to a mapped drive root, as follows
