Url Details not bringing up the page
Whenever I try to goto the Url Details on my latest script it tries to save a file rather than displaying the page in the side bar. This means that I can't grab objects off the page that I want. When I try LOAD RESPONSE_INFO BODY ON I get "LOG: <html>". I am hopeful that someone on this board can help me. Attached are screenshots showing my code and the website and the website source. I have been able use the Url Details button on other webpages, but on alot of pages I get "Do you want to save this file, or find a program to open it"
Thanks in advance
Re: Url Details not bringing up the page
It is because you have selected http 1.1 for recording and your server is gzip encoding responses. OpenSTA does not decompress server responses. When you try and view the response via the DOM explorer or even try to log and examine the body of the response, what is displayed is compressed data which is in binary form.
Two ways you can work around this;
1) record in http 1.0 (you have "use 1.1 for proxy connections" enabled in tools->internetOptions-Advanced). This allows you to use the DOM explorer to view the contents of the body of responses. Server output will NOT be compressed. This is the easiest solution but keep in mind that network utilization could be substantially (10X ?) higher then normal.
2) Decide that you must use http 1.1 and accept that you can't use the DOM explorer to view the body of results that were gzipped. Disable gzip by modifying the headers (in the script) to not allow gzipped requests by removing "accept-encodings: gzip, ^deflate". This will at least allow you to "load response_info body" and view the output so that you can see server response and parse manually using SCL's build in string functions (e.g. ~locate.)
