Re: How to Parameterize in openSTA

Read the doc, it is very good.

    http://portal.opensta.org/modules.php?op...&file=index (look under scripting)

    http://opensta.org/docs/ug/ (see modeling scripts section)

    Some doubts in working OpenSTA

    Hi Bernie Velivis,

We are using OpenSTA 1.4.3 in our firm as a performance Testing Tool.

    Our objectives are to find
    1. Response Time &
    2. How much load that an application can support.

We follow the some steps to generate the scripts, but we are not getting the correct response...The steps that we followed are mentioned below: - Please guide.

    Test environment,
Application which we test is located in separate server. where as openSTA is installed in separate Local PC.SNMP is enabled in Local PC, and we are able to access the Server IP (in which the application is hosted) through SNMP Server Scan.

    Steps:

Step 1. We created the New Script(HTTP) by Recording the application functionality.

Note: The recorded Script is showing Same URIs multiple times for a single page.

    eg:-PRIMARY GET URI "http://address/Security/Login.aspx HTTP/1.1"
The same GET URI is repeating 3 times in my scrip. When I select "URL Details" Button for the first URL, it is showing "Access Denied-Authentication Failed" but for the 2nd one it is showing "Page redirecting" and the last one is showing the "Login Page".

Step 2: We created the new test, and dragged the script in to the Task Group.

    Step 3: We select,

Total number of Virtual user for test group: 1user
Number of virtual user for Timer results : 1user
Number of virtual user for HTTP results : 1user.

Step 4: We run the test.

Step 5: It is giving the result. But we are unable to identify the correct result form the resultant data.

We need to do testing for multiple users also. But we don't have sufficient information to understand the OpenSTA system. Can you please guide us.

These questions go beyond the scope of this forum. You should consider purchasing training and technical support. Given the cost of living differences, you might be best served by finding someone from your country with experience to help you.

Sorry I don't, but perhaps someone reading this from India will respond to you by private message.
