# Thread: Help on the first test

1. ## Help on the first test

Hello,

I am quite new at OpenSTA and would like some help in defining the first test.

I have recorded the first scenario and now want to create the test.
I want to have 200 concurrent users but want to start with 5 users and then increase the number of users with 5 per minute. When the concurrent number of users have reached 200 I want to let them running the scenario 20 times or by time limit (let say 1 hour).

How can I define such test?
Would be very pleased to get a kick-start.

Hi
In Test there is are three things named
1)No.of user per batches
2)Time Interval between Batches
3)Ramp up time.
so u can use this FOr 5 users starting and than increase the 5 users every minute.
In ur case this should be
1)No.of user per batches : 5
2)Time Interval between Batches : 60
3)Ramp up time. : 5

One more thing is that iteration is also over there.U can specify it as 20 in terms of iteration not in terms of time.

Or speciffically u can Write Do statement in the scrpit part for iteration

like

Do iterate = 1, 20
ur scrpit to be oterated
End Do

I think u got the answer.

Hi,

In the test scenario, create a new test. According to the scenario you need to configure as follows,

Total Number of Virtual users for this task group : 200
Interval between batches : 0 ( Actually this is the stable period between the ramp up )
Time Interval between Batches : 5
Ramp up time(sec) : 60

It will keep on running, So, please calculate the time as per the scenario so that you can keep 200 users stable for 20 min and manually stop the run.

In your case, 40 minutes it will take to reach 200 users Load. Then, stable for 20 minutes means, “ It will takes 1 hour for the complete run”.

Iteration can specified from the beginning of the run only. It can't able to specify during the stable period. So, do the iterative 20 times and do the run repeatedly and stop the run manually.

Iterative syntax as follows,

DO Times = 1,20,1
your script need to be placed here
ENDDO

Performance Team,
