I have tried recording and rerunning the script in OpenSTA's Script Modeler for a ASP.NET internet application. Initially for one scenario that was for uploading a file I had no problem.
But in this scenario where some data is entered and is submited I am having proble rerunning and am getting 500 code for urls with both .css and .aspx extension.
I have been using OpenSTA 22.214.171.124 for this. Could any of you guys help me with this.
Thanks anyhow in advance for your help
OpenSTA doesn't automatically deal with the VIEWSTATE, which is a dynamic hidden value passed between the server and client in .NET applications. It contains several settings and is unique to each user.
You need to edit your script to parse the VIEWSTATE from the server response and then send it back to the server in your next request.
If you haven't manually edited the script to deal with it, then you'll get problems.
The VIEWSTATE seems to expire and if you try and send an expired VIEWSTATE to the server it'll all go pear-shaped.
It's confusing because you record and rerun the script and it all works fine because the viewstate hasn't expired. Then all of a sudden your script stops working.
Check this out, it gives you everything you need (including a handy URLENCODE function)
Good luck, Steve
