Running tests on a virtual IP (Web Farm - load balancing)
I am trying to use OpenSTA in the following envirnoment:
The test should be run from a PC pointing to a virtual IP that redirects the requests to 2 different servers (fairly, trying to balance the load).
Is this possible with this tool? Should I install the tool into those 2 servers?
Re: Running tests on a virtual IP (Web Farm - load balancing)
OpenSTA needs only to be installed on machines you intend to create HTTP load from. It is not required on the server end, and does not need any knowledge of your use of load balancing.
If your load balancer assigns work based on source IP address then you probably will want to use distributed load generating or you will not exercise both your actual servers.
