Assigning a variable in a script?
I am another noob to OpenSTA and I am stumped. This is a copy and paste of my problem from Web Testing.
OpenSTA experts please help! I have hit a wall and cannot find a solution. I guess it would help if I knew the tool a little better but I have read the documentation until my eyes hurt and made many attempts to find a solution but I am doing something wrong.
Ok, here is the problem. I have to query the searches using a url to avoid making changes to live content. So,let's say I have "http://whatever.portal.someuniversity.edu/search/term.jsp?q="
I am attempting to create a variable in a SCL script to pull from a file e.g. commonnames.txt. I need to assign the variable for "q" at the end of the url. An example would be "http://whatever.portal.someuniversity.edu/search/term.jsp?q=Smith." I have tried everything under the sun to assign a variable for "q or q=" to pull the names sequentially from the text file and I am at the end of my rope.
Can anyone help?
I hope the explanation wasn't too scatter brained.
Much thanks in advance!
Re: Assigning a variable in a script?
There's an example of this on the OpenSTA community site: http://portal.OpenSTA.org/
I think it's also covered in the FAQ - link in my sig.
