Ok I will try and put it into terms which hopefully someone can make some sense of.
I start up the load testing capture tool, then offcourse the blank I.E page comes up and I begin my recording session. Now... I log into the necessary site.. Now I have 5 links in front of me.... each with the following corresponding link:
"http://events.dev.ge.com/allevents.asp" Link 5
So now... if I try to record the allevents.asp page, this is no problem. I simply click on "Link 5" and waaaa laaa it will record..... As for the other links if I click on any of the links 1-4...
The URL which shows up in the address bar is the same:
For each and every link, the difference is that the page content is off course not the same.
Now here is the problem....
The pages are not HTTPS, so that rules that out....
When I a recording and I click one of those links, IE loads for a few seconds, then proceeds to go blank... a blank white screen and on the bottom right hand corner it tells me I am "Done"... but nothing comes up, no error, no content, NADA....
this is the problem I am running into, and would appreciate any and all help/suggestions/ and if you need any clarification that toooo.
now.. if you run this application without the proxy recorder (just in a regular browser with no OpenSTA), does it work there?
I assume that you can perform the same task successfully when not recording?...
Assuming this to be true, perform the same steps and look at the HTTP traffic using a sniffer/protocol analyzer (like ethereal)... or an HTTP proxy/monitor such as "HTTP Interceptor" or "CHARLES" and look in the HTTP header that the server returns.
Content-Encoding: gzip, defalate
or something like that?
This is what your symptoms suggest as the problem... OpenSTA does not yet support compressed HTML
See the FAQ item:
If this is not the problem then please post the URL from the browser (feel free to change the domain/IP address) and a dump of the HTTP client and server headers for that request.
