Problem when the number of VUs exceeds 4000

I'm working with number of VUs from 1000 to a maximumm of 10000.
With up to 3000 VUs the tool was working fine. When the number of users exceeds 4000 the number of completed requests remains in a range of 3942-3951 maximum. Example
    4000 Users - 3946 requests
    5000 users - 3947 requests
    6000 users - 3942 requests
    7000 users - 3951 requests
    8000 users - 3942 requests
    9000 users - 3944 requests
    ????
    Is there any VU's limitation?
    Thank you.

Re: Problem when the number of VUs exceeds 4000

It's possible that you are reaching a limitation in one of many areas. Your driver machines can be overloaded, the network can be saturated, the application under test can only handle a certain amount of requests per time interval, etc... It appears that after you reach a certain number of VU's that the number of requests levels off indicating that something somewhere is limiting your throughput.

Anyway, I'm curious how OpenSTA itself is scaling up to 10,000 VU's... Are you encountering any issues regarding I/O? Can a single Console drive the entire test? How many agent machines are you using to simulate the load? Is the reporting mechanism slow? Can it generate reports with so many VU's?
