I am new to OpenSTA.
I am testing .net application.
In my Application i have a link which Expands and Colapses.
when i Place the mouse cursor on the link in the Status bar it displays :
Is there any way to Capture/ record this link .
or any Scl script to Make the tool click on this link.
Did you try recording it?
If so, what happened?
OpenSTA records the http traffic between a browser (or non-browser http client) and server. It has no idea what the UI is doing, only the http requests that result from some UI action are seen. Odds are that expanding/collapsing the control produces no http traffic at all. If you want to be 100% sure, do as Joe suggested and record it. When recording add a start timer before you perform the UI action and an end timer after you do it then view the script. Any http requests generated as a result of the UI action will show up between the start and end timer statements in the script.
It is both a strength and a weakness. A strength because OpenSTA tends to be immune to new browser programming paradigms (e.g. Ajax). A weakness because it takes more manual scripting to deal with basic correlations like viewstates, eventargs, etc.
Thanks for your reply.
My application has so many edit fields and 1 save button.
i want to edit one text field out of all the text fields and click on save button.
Is there a way to send only these 2 fields in body and post the request.
when i record its recording all the objects and there value in body.
so whati want is to send only 2 objects in the post request.
OpenSTA will record only what it observes. You can edit the script until you get it to do what you want, but you need to understand how UI actions modify the contents of the post body.
