We (our company ) were trying to stress/performance test web application by Microsoft Web Application Stress, but the PerfCounters not loaded -- same problem faced by many in internet but no answer :-(
Now we are thinking to go through OpenSTA ..
1.. Can it record all .Net objects ? (any plugin needed xtra)?
2.. what are the constraints of performance testing of web app through OpenSTA?
1. It doesn't record .net objects, it records the HTTP requests made by your browser. If the .net objects are client side then as long as the talk HTTP then it should be ok.
2. Constraints of OpenSTA that I know of:
- 1665 virtual users per instance (but easily avoided by using multiple load generators).
- IP address spoofing (you cannot spoof multiple IP addresses, so testing load balancers based on IP addresses are difficult).
Other than that I have had no problem with OpenSTA that have prevented me from performing useful tests.
