Load Generator Performance
Im using quite a well-resourced server for my load generation, but after around 45mins of running a test, CPU and memory start to get chewed eventually resulting in a test crash...
Im just wondering:
- Is this typical? I hope not!
- Are there some general principles Im missing that may be creating memory leaks?
- Any ideas as to why this is happening?
Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks
Re: Load Generator Performance
It is not typical based on my experience. I believe there are cases when calling subroutines and passing large variables causes some memory leaking. As for the high CPU utilization, give this a shot (as counter intuitive as it may sound), if you have a dual or multiprocessor system, turn off all but one CPU. There is a utility called MSCONFIG that will allow you to do this under the boot.ini advanced options by setting num CPUs to 1. This requires a reboot.
