24/7/365 -batch tools and OpenSTA
My question does any use OpenSTA in this method? As a web site monitor ongoing...Here is some background....
It has been at least a year and a half since I installed and used OpenSTA. I thought it was great but management wanted a 3rd party to monitor the websites. We have used a 3rd party and the 3rd party's proprietary record script app and upload the recorded scripts, the 3rd party has servers that run the script every 5 minutes and send email where there are issues.
Occasionally the 3rd party provider has issues. We also now have multiple data centers where we could monitor through a different internet connection - in addition to monitoring our dev and qa systems that are only available on the internal network.
I looked at the batch tools before, it seemed like I would need a perl script or parser to read the results then send email if the times were higher then expected.
I am referring to these batch tools:

wouldn't a system like Nagios be more appropriate?
