I'm going to test connection pooling.
In this case its ODBC connection pooling but similarities can easily be drawn to general network (telephone) connection pooling and sharing. This is on WIN & UNIX.
Is there more to consider than this: connection threading (both at sender and reciever), pooling timeouts min/max secs, # concurrent connections, #pool members maximum, pool performance vs. non pool perf etc?
Anybody got a test spec or whitepaper covering this kind of area, just so I get some ideas?
ODBC connection pooling got three different settings: OFF, ONE Pool per DB Driver (e.g One pool for all connections to Oracle, another pool for all connections to SQL Server), and lastly even more granular, one pool per environment (an env. is a container for one or more connections to DB using same driver)
