Embedded Sowtware Testing
I am new in testing and validation. I would like to find a solid basis book to acquire knowledge on embedded software testing.
Is there someone who can give me some references (ebooks are welcome...)
Re: Embedded Sowtware Testing
The references that I used were general testing books in conjunction with non-testing specific books on embedded systems, Windows CE specifically. I haven't seen any books specific to testing in the embedded domain, which doesn't mean that they don't exist.
For what its worth, the embedded references I use include;
GPRS and 3G wireless applications, C Andersson
3G wireless demystified, Harte, Levine & Kikta
Essential Windows CE application programming, Burdick
Windows CE developers kit, Microsoft
Windows CE developers handbook, T Goggin
Effective TCP/IP programming, Snader
Windows CE 3.0 application programming, Grattan & Brain

As you can guess, I am more of a developer than tester, and most of my embedded work relates to Windows CE and communications, which has influenced my choice. Your choice of material will be dictated by what you intend to test in the embedded domain, remembering it is a huge domain. For example;
Which embedded operating systems will you address?
What types of communications will you be dealing with?
What external devices will you be using?
Will you be testing at black box level only, or will you also be doing white box?
Will your testing be primarily functional, or will you also be doing performance testing?
If you can answer the above questions, we might be able to provide some more specific information.
