Manual testing for C++ app on PDA

    Hi,
I am a newbie in PDA testing. The Co. I work with is a very small scale Co. & hence won't allocate any funds for buying any testing tools. So I have to do manual testing of the applications.
They use Windows ME OS. As the app aims for wide range of users, there is no specifics abt the device types they will be using.
Manually testing functionality of the app is ok. But my questions is,
can anyone tell me how to manually test things like memory leak, app performance etc?
    Thanks in advance

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">Do you mean Windows ME or Windows CE? Windows ME is a defunct desktop operating system, whereas Windows CE is an operating system used on PDAs.

There are a number of open source tools for checking for C++ memory leaks and performance, if you have the coorperation of your development team. For example try http://www.codeproject.com/cpp/trace_utility.asp
If you google for 'memory leaks c++' and 'c++ profiling' you will get plenty of choices.

For Windows CE, www.entrek.com sell a good resource profiler pretty cheap. (US$200-US$500). As mentioned on other threads, i would get the dev team to produce a Win32 version of your app for initial functional testing, as this will give you access to a greater array of (low cost) tools.

    Regards,

    Shane
