Need Help:To test validations of text field in app
Right now I am working on an Enterprise mobile application which will run on iOS and Android.
Application contains several forms that needs to fill and every form has many text fields. I have a specification which mentions number of characters/numbers allowed in text fields.
My question is that how do I count number of characters entered in every text field? As for some of the fields number of characters allowed are more than 250.
Right now I am following methods which are time consuming and not Smart:
1] For fields which have characters limit as 250 I am entering 10 characters at a time and copying-pasting them 25 times.
2] I can see the code by sitting next to developer which I usually prefer (but what if Developer is Onsite or on leave)
Is there any smart way or is there any tool by which I can do it without wasting too much time.
Thanks in Advance.

There is a new and FREE tool you can try to automate it. Check out SOASTA's TouchTest which might be able to help. I haven't seen much of the tool yet but you can automatically get it if you go to their site. It comes out next week.
Or are you able to download files to the device? If you can via FTP, then you can create your files on your desktop, count do a cut and paste of the characters in say Word to do a Word Count which will also display number of characters.
Maybe others can chime in with other thoughts? Did you check out the tool list in the sticky on this forum? Loads to choose from which might be helpful.
