Android SQA Rooting Policies?
I'd like solutions to restore devices to certain states. For example, I'd like to be able to test on a Nexus S with Gingerbread or Ice Cream Sandwich as necessary. I'd also like to restore my QA environment (favorite test apps and settings) whenever a new phone comes in for testing, or when I wipe an existing phone.
Both of these require rooting the phones.
Does anyone with experience have an opinion on whether rooting the phone spoils it as a QA platform? I understand that if all my phones are rooted we risk unknowingly shipping an app that requires root. But are there any other risks?
Are there any other alternatives to what I want to do?

Hi and welcome;
I personally do not have the experience you are seeking. But I will try to get back to you later today with some thoughts. I just can't right at the moment. I just didn't want you to think no one was going to answer.
