Testing Strategy/Midset on iPad Apps

I have involved into a team which responsible on App testing on iPad. Since iPad device is differ from the normal machine/device like PC, what are the testing strategies/midset a tester should have?

Here are the topics/areas which I think a iPad App tester should pay attention on:
Multi-touch - e.g. ensure App would not crash when more than 1 object are selected/in active
Sliding - e.g. ensure the new content can be displayed when screen is sliding
Zoom in/out - e.g. ensure content has been enlarged/shrunk and and able to view

Anything else?

Answering my own question... partly. Cited from other post: http://www.sqaforums.com/showflat.ph...e=0#Post551610

1. Screen size should be adjusted when iPad has been flipped
2. Suspend/Resume (Call/SMS/Alarm) when app is running.
3. Behavior of app on Flip/Slider close.
4. Memory usage of App on iPad
5. network status
6. App PnR or stress test

You may find some inspiration in this other iPad testing link as well.

Enhancing my post as a diary of my iPad App testing. Please don't kill it (cross finger...)

1. Screen size should be adjusted when iPad Device has been rotated
2. Suspend/Resume (Call/SMS/Alarm) when app is running.
3. Behavior of app on Flip/Slider close.
4. Memory usage of App on iPad - any tool which could monitor the memory usage when an App is running?
5. network status - when Wiki/WAN signal is weak. Or when switching from Wiki to 3G/CDMA
6. App PnR or stress test
7. Program Performance when low battery, Power switch off, insufficienct memory, switching between connections

Re: Testing Strategy/Midset on iPad Apps

Hi All,

Thanks for sharing all those important inputs. Those are really useful while testing an App on iPad.

Recently I was working on defining the methodology for testing an App on iPad and following are few scenarios which I considered that should be tested. The main thing which I kept in mind was the user's perspective who would be accessing the app on device. Please have a look and guide me to improve further

Usability
1. Visual convenience like the objects should be tap-able
2. Consistency-all objects for same purpose should be same through the application and there should not be any discrepancy

Orientation of device- App should be visible complete and clearly in all orientation - a) rotating device b) landscape and portrait

Device Gestures like pinch and zoom, Swipe, slide

Interruptions like- Low battery, calender notifications, battery discharge, other application starts in between, Alerts, iMessage, incoming messenger calls etc

Diff networks like 3G, WiFi

Hope to see more and more valuable suggestions from all of you (I am just the newbie in the field of App testing on device so kindly let me know in case I have mentioned any thing incorrect here or repeating what you all have already mentioned)
