In my application we have lot of dropdown values.. so when we are testing the application by selecting those values, later if we want to run the scripts on different server which has different database values(it tries to select the value which is not on this database) , the test fails, how we go about this type of situation as script should run across different servers(different database values).. How every one is doing when you want selections that is particular to database, any help will be appreciated.
then How to test the application with drop down values, drop down values differs client to client and server to server.. for Example counties dropdown it changes for each and every state, one state client having some values and another state client having another set of values, its just an example, but dropdown values are always database dependent right, some situations we are entering a code some where in the application, and we are selecting the code from a dropdown in another screen.. in this type of situations the drop down value never be constant?? How to go about this?
The application I work on has different database depending on client machine. You need to develop a generic function which accepts number of parameters and each time when you run on different DB you need to specify what value do you want to select in the drop down.
In the share module you need to create a common file with the following function
Function fnSelectDropDownValue(lstDDValue as string)
HTMLComboBox("ID='XYZ'").select (lstDDValue )
Then in the script file you need to call the function and pass the parameter string values.
Call fnSelectDropDownValue ("ABC")
End Sub </font>
NOTE: I am not stating that this is 100% correct solution but this is the solution for you to run a process with different values each time.
