Parsing a input file
I am reading in a txt file that is comma delimetted. In my code, I am not using a split function, but VB [or is it TP] somehow 'knows' that I have a comma delimetter b/c it is parsing the file properly. And so now I am perplexed...anyone can tell me how it knows it?
Here's my code:
sFile = "O:\5 Prj Mgmt\QA Sys\AutomationTestScripts\ClaimsGUI\Files\SEARCH_F unction\SearchFunctionInputFile.txt"
'Opens the input file and reads in the values
Open sFile For Input As #1
Dim pFirstName, pLastName, pMiddleInitial, pGender, provGroup, provFN, provLN, provTaxID, insuredID, cID, uID As String
dummyVar = 1
Do While Not EOF(1)
If dummyVar = 1 Then
Line Input #1, dummyVar
Input #1, claimNumber, pFirstName, pLastName, pMiddleInitial, pGender, provGroup, provLN, provFN, provTaxID, insuredID, cID, uID, recDate, procDate, servdate
Re: Parsing a input file
Yes, the Input function can read CSV files. This is standard VBA functionality and quite useful, isn't it? :-)
