MixnMatch between QA DIrector, QC and TestPart
I was looking for some info regarding Rational Clear Quest.
1. I have gone through a beta version of Clear Quest V7.0 and as far as my understanding goes, Clear Quest is a purely Defect Management tool. We can take care of the all the defects for the full defect life cycle. More over, we can prepare different customized queries for different defect related reports. But can we integrate CQ v3.0 or v6.15 with QA Director (of Compuware) for the Test Management aspects or Test Partner (of Compuware) for Automation testing?
2. Or is it possible to synchronize the automated test logs (of Test Partner) with the defect tracking tool CQ?
3. Can we do the Test Management part using any add-in to CQ?
Re: MixnMatch between QA DIrector, QC and TestPart
Why do mix and match?
You are correct. CQ is purely defect (or issue) management.
If you have TestPartner and QADirector, why not go with TrackRecord for defect/issue management? It has the same functionality as ClearQuest (I have used both and they are virtually identical), and it integrates seamlessly with TestPartner and QADirector. No mix and match needed.
You may also find that TestPartner price points are more attractive than those of CQ.
If you go with CQ, I think you will have to use the CQ API to hook up to TP or QAD.
