Does anyone know if it is possible to do any of the following:
1) Run a TestPartner script on a virtual server
2) Record a script that connects to a virtual server and then performs some other predefined steps while connected to the virtual server?
A rule of thumb to go by when you are dealing with virtual machines, remote desktop, citrix, etc... is that TP needs to be installed on the same operating system as the application/client you are testing. So you are "remoting into" the machine with TP installed on it.
If you have TP installed locally, and you launch a virtual connection to another machine, TP will just see that machine as one large window/bitmap since that is what it really is.
We use TP on Virtual and Citrix Servers. Alias is pretty close to it. You need to have TP installed AND attached to a licensed server (or individual license) on the Virtual Server, or the Citrix server that you are working with.
If you want to fire it off remotely you will need QADirector to remotely fire it off without someone on the console.
We have used QARun, TP and QALoad to run through the citrix client to a hosted application, but when taking over the server desktop, it really screws it up on the other window.
