I am administering a number of TP SQL Server projects which started out 5.2.1 projects and then (mostly) successfully converted to 5.3 projects.
A couple of stragglers however are still on 5.2.1 databases, and in attempting to help them upgrade - I uninstalled version 5.3 on my client, rebooted and reinstalled 5.2.1. Problem now on opening the TP app (5.2.1) is that I can only utilise the TP main menu and toolbar. Anything below that is disabled - including all of the Asset Types, the Project, View and Filters list. I have uninstalled 5.2.1 again, deleting the Program Files\Compuware directory and reinstalled to no avail. Reinstalling 5.3 fixes the problem, however. I now suspect that the uninstall routine for 5.3 is leaving behind some of the 5.3 elements (maybe in registry or system32 directory ?) that make using 5.2.1 again impossible on that client.
Any one else encountered this problem (before I go to Compuware Support) ?
Re: Reverting client back to TP 5.2.1 SP 3 from 5.3
I manage multiple projects. A, B and C have been successfully converted to 5.3 database. D is still on 5.2.1. However my client machine has TP 5.3 installed. We have to cleanup some Project D checks and events first so I uninstall TP 5.3 and reinstall 5.2.1.
Now when I log into Project D, I cannot access any of the TP projects assets in the TP GUI window - they appear disabled.
Forget the database conversions - this even happened with the local (unconverted) TestPartner.mdb. So here I think the problem is with the TP client uninstall for 5.3. Has anyone successfully uninstalled version 5.3 and reinstalled 5.2.1 SP3 and successfully been able to use the TP GUI ?
