I created an Access database when we installed the software on my PC. It worked great for about three days. Now, when I open Test Partner, I can only create new scripts, and they won't save once I close the program. All of my work is now lost too.
I have created a new Access database twice with the same results. It usually works for a couple of days, and then I get nothing.
Does anyone know what is going wrong and how to fix it? I would really like the use the software with confidence that my work is not going to be lost.
We are working on that. I work for a big company so it has to be called in my the appropriate manager (not me). I was hoping someone here would be able to help me instead of waiting for the manager to find the time to call tech support and relay the information to me.
I work with TP and access DB.We daily update a centralized database(third party tool called Perforce) with our local databases and then we sync with it our local databases to get the modifications done by other developers. In this scenario I will lose all the modifications done on my local machine if I sync with Perforce. So what I do is that I save my modifications on a text file and then sync to perforce to get the modifications done by other developers and then again make changes to my local database and then I will update perforce with my changes.
This is the way each of us will do it in our firm.
I want to know How it is done in other organizations,As TP doesn't provide any way to merge two databases.
when u said :"you can share the databases across various clients" does that mean the database can be modified simultaneously by more than one user and can later merge the database without anyone loosing their respective modifications or changes.
Does oracle\SQL support such a thing.
Yes, Oracle and SQL Server support multiuser environment. When somebody has opened an asset for editing others can access it only in read-only mode.
Although others will be able to run scripts, I'd recommend you to have one database for developing scripts and another for real use. You are then able to test your scripts without causing any trouble for people who might want to execute scripts for real. These two databases could be synched nightly by using tools that come with database management system.
