Well, that's not entirely true. The first TestPartner version we used (5.0.4) supported only Access database and Access database could NOT be used concurrently by many users. The first version which supported multi-user mode if SQL Server database was used was TestPartner 5.1.1. I believe Oracle support was introduced in a later version.
So if original poster is really using TestPartner 5.0.3 (and not TestPartner 5.3.0) it is not possible to have a multi-user database.
Yes I am still in 5.0.X World!! We are in the process of procuring the latest version of TP.
But I am surprised to know that Concurrent access of DB is NOT possible in 5.0.X
Alias..Can you give some more details about migration of DB. I have NOT understood which DB maintenance utility must be used for migration. Can I directly import .mdb file using MS SQL? or am I seriously missing out some thing ?
Sandeep_idea, since you are in version 5.0.3 you are seriously missing something. Like I said, it's not possible to have a multi-user database in TestPartner versions prior to 5.1.1. That's exactly the reason I jumped when Alias talked about "any version of TestPartner".
1) Delete out all of your old versions of assets in you db. (scripts, logs, checks, etc)
2) upgrade to TestPartner 5.3 ASAP.
3) after uninstall, install... use the TP database maintence utility to update the schema of your existing tp access dbs.(start~Programs~Compuware~TestPartner~Utilitie s)
4) after updating the schema, you can take you existing db databases and copy them into SQL databases using the TP db maintence utility.
While its true that access is only supported as a single user db, this is more of a limitation of MS access, not TestPartner.
Alias, TP 5.0.3 has NO Database Maintenance utility, due to which I was wondering what kind of utility you were talking about. Now we got the Evaluation version of TP 5.3.0 and found the utility.
We have problems in converting existing 5.0.3 DB to 5.3.0. I shall come back with more problems ;-) as we need to Upgrade Existind Access DB then Migrate to SQL and finally create a multi-user environment
