viewing the Log is very slow

    Hi folks!

I have just started using TestPartner (v5.2.1), having previous extensive experience with QARun.

I always remember that with QARun that viewing logs was a little slow with an MS Access database as the back-end. However in TestPartner it seems to be incredibly slow (on P4 2.8ghz with 256mb RAM).

Although we will be migrating to a SQL Server 2000 setup shortly, I was wondering if anyone has any advice on strategies to increase the speed of the MDB in the meantime?

I have tried compacting the MDB file but that did not appear to make much difference.

    Thanks
    -Colin

Re: viewing the Log is very slow

    Colin,

This is a known problem with TestPartner. For some reason once you start to get a large number of logs the load time will increase. I have been told that this is because of the way log files are loaded into memory and CPWR plans to rewrite this functionallity in the future.

Your best bet would be to only turn on logging when necessary, for instance in your error handling. This would let you know when and where an error has occured. Another thing that you may want to do is to maintain the number of versions you have for each log. You can export your logs individually to Excell and then delete the version from TP which should also help.
