Quality is the result of a carefully constructed cultural environment. It has to be the fabric of the organization, not part of the fabric.
Generally I think the answer is yes. Either 10 days or 30 days. I know that the sales reps have wide latitude as far as giving trial licenses.
When the sales reps were courting us, we got many "extensions" of the trial license until we were ready to buy. It was one of the factors that made us decide to go with Compuware - their willingness to do what it took to make the sale and keep us happy afterwards.
We bought QALoad to do load testing. It turned out that one piece of the code could not be tested using QALoad, due to limitations of the architecture. However, QARun would work for that piece. They threw in a 60 day license for QARun at no charge so that we could finish the testing. They even brought in a Compuware consultant to get QARun up and running and scripted the tests for us, again at no charge. In my humble opinion, the sales rep went well above and beyond the call of duty to keep his customer happy.
