    capturing text from a source

    Hello,

    We are in the process of preparing some automated testing scripts. We do check on the appearance of the page but there is a requirement for how to check some values are being passed to the webcontrol successfully. To do this my idea is to open a notepad and view source of the page and check if the value is there.

    Is this a good idea, are there any better approaches to check backend data?

    thanks
    k

    Re: capturing text from a source

    Can you not 'see' the webcontrol with the tool so that you can use the .text properties to verify the contents?

    Something like:

    sUserName = HTMLEditBox(WFUserName).Text

    Then verify that sUserName is what you expected the editbox to have?

    This is a custom control, you pass in some values and it spits out some tracking code in a javaescript format.

    It doesnt affect the appearence of the page. But we want to make sure it is there and only way you can tell is if the value is in the source code.

    thanks
