My company is looking at implementing an automated test tool and TP is one of the candidates. What is unclear from the initial documentation and demo we have seen is if TP will work with Apps that are based in pre .Net APIs. Mainly Win32.
Our app is designed to run on 98/ME/2K and Xp, we will need to run scripts on our app under test and also execute functions in other apps at the same time.
Can any confirm that TP will peform these tasks for us.
I believe these are all still supported by MS - even though the initial plan was to discontinue 98 support early 2004.
Our app is VC++ - the issue is that the demo I saw was focussed purely on .Net constructed GUI, it did look quite good and at a brief view look to identify objects very well and be imune to screen location and caption changes. The demonstrator however was not at all clear about its equivalent functionality under older frameworks.
I think the best way approach this is to obtain an evaluation version from Compuware and try it with your application.
I have installed TestPartner on 98SE and ME and it worked fairly ok with our VC++ application. To be honest there were some problems accessing non-standard components properly, but I've been told other automation tools have had similar problems. On W2K and XP there are no problems.
Hi Sini & All,
You seem to be experienced & old member of QA forum.I have some similar question.
That whether TP supports java applets. We have a very critical application developed in applet & this is a very long standing question before us to test this application. We have been searching for the solution but no tool seems to support applet.
Please do reply to this if anybody is aware of the solution.
Thanks & regards
