I am trying to use the Database maintenance utility to copy my repository from Access to Oracle.
Our DBA created a login for me which allows me to
create, alter, drop tables etc.. I tried it ( SqlPlus ) and it works.
However, when I use this dsn to copy from access to oracle, the maintenance utility prompts for the SYSTEM password. I do not understand why it would want to write into system tables, and neither does our DBA allow me to since this DB is used for development by other departments.
Since it is a transparent process I cannot convince him of the severity.
So here's my question
- What does the utility alter in the SYSTEM tables of an Oracle database? Can I find this info somewhere?
-Why does it need SYSTEM access if I already use a login that has sufficient credentials?
