ActiveData SetString problem?
So I'm reading in some # from an Excel File.
once I find a # I haven't used I pull the value, then I update two other columns one is just an X show it was used the other column is a date (now). Here is the code
' Generated commands for "ListCheckNumbers" ActiveData type 7. Do not edit!
Dim ListCheckNumbers_Row As TActiveDataRow
Dim ListCheckNumbers_ActiveData As TActiveData
Set ListCheckNumbers_ActiveData = LoadActiveData("ListCheckNumbers")
For Each ListCheckNumbers_Row In ListCheckNumbers_ActiveData
CheckUsed = ListCheckNumbers_Row.GetString("Used")
If StrComp(CheckUsed, "X", vbTextCompare) <> 0 Then
CheckNum = ListCheckNumbers_Row.GetString("Check Number")
ListCheckNumbers_Row.SetString "Used", "X"
saved = False
saved = ListCheckNumbers_Row.SetString("Date Used", "2009-01-01")
'I should have a checknum by now...
Both SetStrings return a False, as does the save.
When I look at my ActiveData through TP, I can't edit at all. (the Buttons on the right are all grayed out, and I it is NOT read only)
Currently I only have Open Office (but the document is saved as an xls file). I'm not sure if I need to have excel installed on my machine or not?
*** Have TP 6.2 build 441
Re: ActiveData SetString problem?
If you dont have Excel installed it will be read-only for an xls file but I thought that you would see a message stating that it could not be written to because of that fact.
You could switch to a csv file.
